Classrooms for the Future Project
The Classrooms for the Future project is a Pennsylvania Department of Education initiative to install the latest technology in every math, science, social studies and English high school classroom in Pennsylvania over a three-year period. PCCi is providing installation services as a subcontractor to CDW-G for the central portion of Pennsylvania as part of this project, installing up to 2,800 laptops per week and over 20,000 laptops in 14 installation weeks. During the first two years of the project PCCi installed over 24,000 laptops and 1,800 whiteboards. Specifically, PCCi’s workforce is charged with:
- Performing cable management of laptop power cords in laptop carts;
- Configuring networks and personalizing laptops according to school district instructions;
- Testing, configuring, and certifying Promethean and Polyvision digital whiteboards, and providing 30-minute instruction sessions on how to operate the boards;
- Unboxing, testing projectors, and the optional service of installing ceiling mount hardware and surface raceway to accommodate ceiling mount projectors;
- Unboxing, testing, and configuring network attached printers;
- Configuring wireless internet access points for each classroom
- Unboxing and testing digital still cameras, video cameras, and other accessories;
- Providing inventory tracking including scanning the serial numbers of all devices and electronically reporting to each school; Troubleshooting to ensure successful installation; Imaging laptops using Ghost or other school-preferred software; and Installing additional memory.
